ABOUT ‘HOMIN’

A professional musical ensemble created with the aim of promoting choral art and embodying the best practices and achievements in the field of Ukrainian music. The choir works with a wide range of musical culture, reviving it and inspiring people, revealing the beauty of choral singing to a wide audience. One of the ensemble's key tasks is to reveal the beauty of Ukrainian songs to listeners. The Lviv choir ‘Homin’ was founded in 1988 at the regional branch of the Music Society of Ukraine.

Over its more than 30-year history, the Homin choir has given dozens of successful performances in Ukraine and abroad, popularising Ukrainian choral music (in the USA, France, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Serbia, Spain and Sweden), and has won numerous choral competitions.

Together with the Culture Department of the Lviv City Council, the Homin choir has repeatedly organised cultural and educational events abroad, as well as choral festivals in Lviv: the Lviv Meetings International Choral Music Festival and the Praise the Lord from Heaven Regional Choral Festival.

REPERTOIRE

The choir's repertoire consists of songs by Ukrainian composers, folk and rebel songs, works by European and American choral composers, and contemporary music. Among the choir's most popular programmes are Christmas concerts featuring Ukrainian and international carols, spiritual music by Ukrainian composers, patriotic programmes, and original programmes of contemporary music.

HOMIN AND THE ORGAN HALL

In 2023, the HOMIN choir joined the Lviv Organ Hall with the aim of synergising the efforts, experience and practices of both organisations. In August 2023, Vadym Yatsenko became the choir's chief conductor and artistic director. Under his leadership, the newly formed HOMIN successfully represented Ukraine at the International Choir Festival in Lund, Sweden, in October of the same year.

On the stage of the Lviv Organ Hall, the municipal choir ‘HOMIN’ regularly presents new programmes and participates in joint projects with soloists of the Organ Hall, the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Luhansk Regional Philharmonic, as well as guest conductors. Recordings of the choir's performances regularly appear on the Ukrainian Live Classic YouTube channel.

The HOMIN Choir was recognised as the best choir of 2024 in Ukraine according to the national rating of the Ukrinform news agency ‘Infobum-Classical Music 2024’.

In 2025 HOMIN Choir had 200 shows in Ukraine and Europe, and in 2026 planning to do more than 250 shows in Ukraine, Europe, UK, USA and Canada.
